Depending on the severity of the scoliosis, either physical therapy, brace treatment or spinal surgery are used.
Physiotherapy:

When it comes to scoliosis, having a physiotherapist with specialized knowledge is especially important.

Because every case is unique, the right treatment approach must be determined individually by qualified professionals. If physiotherapy hasn’t already been started beforehand, it should begin at the latest when brace treatment starts. With active participation, this combination can help bring about real, positive change.

During brace treatment, the physical and emotional demands may also make additional therapies helpful or necessary. If you have questions or are feeling unsure, we recommend reaching out to our team of specialists.

Corset treatment:

Scolioses of over 20° Cobb and kyphoses of over 40° Cobb at a growing age should be treated with a brace in addition to physiotherapy in order to guide growth. The treatment aims to prevent further deterioration until the end of growth, correct existing curvatures, and maintain the corrections achieved.

Brace therapy can also be beneficial in adulthood, especially in cases of scoliosis or kyphosis associated with pain and functional limitations.

Brace therapy is prescribed by medical professionals, who also determine the daily wearing time and duration of treatment.

Surgical therapy:

In some cases, conservative treatment (physiotherapy, brace therapy) is not sufficient. If scoliosis continues to worsen and the curvature becomes too severe, surgeons usually recommend surgical scoliosis treatment.

Medical professionals select the optimal surgical method. The choice depends on the degree of curvature, whether it occurs in the lumbar (lower back) or thoracic (upper back) spine, as well as the age and general physical condition of the patient.
